What a cookie is
A cookie is a small file a website places on your device to remember something about you between requests — like whether you're signed in.
Cookies we use
Strictly necessary
- cgsess — session cookie. Set when you sign in; lets us keep you signed in as you move between pages. Cleared when you sign out.
- _csrf — CSRF token. Prevents another site from posting a form to chaogolden using your session.
Turnstile
Signup, some review submissions, and anonymous flag reports use Cloudflare Turnstile for anti-bot protection. Turnstile sets its own cookies that are used only to distinguish humans from automated traffic; we do not read them.
What we don't set
- No third-party advertising cookies.
- No cross-site tracking cookies.
- No analytics cookies that identify you personally.
Controlling cookies
You can clear cookies at any time in your browser's settings. If you clear the cgsess cookie you'll be signed out. If you disable strictly-necessary cookies entirely, chaogolden won't work — you won't be able to sign in.

If we add or remove a cookie we'll update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes are also announced on the account overview.
